Srila Bhakti Rakshak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj is the revered carrier of the preceptorial line of spritual masters, descending from Sri Rupa and Sri Sanatana of Vrindavan, imparted to him by the great Vaishnava commander, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur. Only two temples were named as his own in his last will and testament: the original Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math in Nabadwip, West Bengal, founded by Srila Sridhar Maharaj himself in 1941, and the London Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, begun under his direction in 1983.
Under the expert guidance of His chosen successor, Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj, the Nabadwip Math complex has grown dynamically to become the largest and most renowned in this most holy of holy places. The London Math has been solidly established in its present location in East London, however with the growth of disciples and members, the present location has become too small, particularly at festival times, when hundreds of devotees and friends overflow into the back garden and even on to the street. Srila Govinda Maharaj has repeatedly asked us to obtain a centre that will accommodate all our devotees and friends and will properly reflect the glories of his beloved Srila Guru Maharaj.
So, a great chance has now appeared for those disciples and well-wishers of Srila
Sridhar Maharaj and Srila Govinda Maharaj to give some substantial service offering to this
once-in-a-lifetime project. Genuine service to a real Vaishnava is not easy to obtain,
but now, by the Grace of Srila Govinda Maharaj, we have got the chance to offer some of
our life’s energy directly to the plane of loving service that is the eternal residence of Srila
Bhakti Rakshak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj.
The temple is already manifest in that substantial plane; this cannot but be true for such is the desire
of two great Vaishnava Paramhamsas. It is for us to surrender and open our hearts to enable its appearance
before the eyes of the suffering world.
